There’s no I in Team is Just a Saying

In March, I ran, er, participated in the LA marathon as a runner, er, participant for Team World Vision.  I ran and walked the 26.2 miles in almost constant rain.  And I had a blast.  Of course, I was miserable.  Especially as soon as I took off the Hefty bag that kept me relatively dry, but more than that, in a little cocoon of body heat.  And I was sore and had difficulty walking for the next couple of days.

By Wednesday, though, I was thinking about running the LA marathon again and raising more money for Team World Vision.  And that night I went for a run.  It’s crazy.

Being part of the team was an excuse and a measure of accountability for something I really wanted to do.  Push myself.  Exercise.  Exert myself.  Challenge myself.  I found the I in team.  Being part of Team World Vision really brought me to life, helped me enjoy 2011, get into shape, and for that I say thank you!  Being part of the team really benefited me.  Personally.  Selfishly.  I’m a better person because I am a part of Team World Vision.
